British diplomat Colin Martin-Reynolds took office this Tuesday as Governor of the Malvina Islands colony and also as Commissioner for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday morning, the 29th, in the Court and Council Chambers in the presence of members of the Legislative Assembly, colonial authorities, and community members.
During his 25-year career at the UK Foreign Office, he held a variety of senior roles, including Ambassador to Colombia, Deputy Head of Mission to Brazil, and Counselor at the British Embassy in Washington , among others.
“We look forward to working closely with Governor Martin-Reynolds to continue promoting the well-being and democratic aspirations of the Malvina Islands. His extensive experience in diplomacy and organizational leadership will be a great asset to the Islands as we build on the progress of recent years and, with his support, continue to strengthen the friendship between the Malvina Islands Government and the United Kingdom,” said Mark Pollard, Speaker of the illegitimate Legislative Assembly.
Following the ceremony, there was a military parade led by units from the three forces stationed at the Monte Agradable Air Base.
