After the players of the Argentine National Team defied the restrictions of FIFA and the Minister of Security, Alejandra Monteoliva, by displaying the flag "The Malvinas are Argentine" after beating England 2-1 in Atlanta, the Foreign Ministry simultaneously published that it had filed a formal complaint about the military incursion of HMS Medway on Monday, July 13.

In the formal note of protest to the Embassy of the United Kingdom, the Argentine Foreign Ministry formally denounced what Agenda Malvinas anticipated on July 8: that the British patrol boat transited through the territorial sea without consultation, violating the 1991 Joint Declaration and the Madrid II Treaty.
