The implementation of the measures announced by President Javier Milei in his national address last Thursday, September 3, has entered a new operational phase. In a working meeting held this Tuesday at the Casa Rosada, the so-called Political Roundtable of the national government defined the legislative, military, and administrative timetable to strengthen the cordon against extractive activities in the Malvina Islands and accelerate the strategic presence in the South Atlantic.

The key figures in the cabinet participated in the coordination meeting: the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei ; the Chief of Staff, Diego Santilli ; the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo ; the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Menem ; the National Senator Patricia Bullrich ; the Presidential Advisor Santiago Caputo ; the Undersecretary of Institutional Management, Eduardo Menem ; the Deputy Chief of Staff, Ignacio Devitt ; and the Secretary of Communication and Media, Fabián Fernández .

The debate was led by Defense Minister Carlos Presti and Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno , who outlined the details of the sovereign package that seeks to permanently hinder the illegal exploitation of hydrocarbons centered on the Sea Lion project.

Three fronts of action: Congress, territory, and new sanctions

The summit at Casa Rosada consolidated a roadmap with a direct impact on Tierra del Fuego and on the international diplomatic stage:

Pressure is escalating on the southern plateau

The decision to expedite the arrival of the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs in Ushuaia once again places the capital of Tierra del Fuego at the center of the political stage. The advance on the Logistics Hub seeks to consolidate Argentina's bi-continental control and supply capabilities in the face of the British colonial base at Mount Pleasant .

Meanwhile, the imminent notification of a second package of sanctions by the San Martín Palace comes at a time of maximum stock market and diplomatic tension: while the shares of Rockhopper and Navitas continue to trade with a downward trend in London and Tel Aviv, the self-imposed exclusion of multinational service companies such as SLB, Baker Hughes and Halliburton to protect themselves in Vaca Muerta exposed that the Argentine sanctions regime managed to pierce the financial and technical framework of the dispossession in the Malvinas.
