The cups won by the Argentine National Team in a tribute to the "kids of Malvinas" that we will never forget

The excitement was the common feature of the people of Tierra del Fuego who visited the exhibition of the trophies won by the Argentine athletes who immortalized the song to “Los Pibes de Malvinas” at the 2022 World Cup in France. The cups of the Finalissima and the continental competition were also displayed in front of the monument in Plaza Islas Malvinas, in Ushuaia. The pride and gratitude of the community towards the athletes who dared to express the claim for Argentina's sovereignty in the South Atlantic and make it a banner with their achievements, before the attentive gaze of the entire planet.

The Plaza Islas Malvinas in Ushuaia was the scene of a photograph that we Malvinas residents will keep in our hearts.

The Argentine national football team led by Lionel Messi passed through Tierra del Fuego and left behind a postcard with the Malvinas Islands in the background . It is a photograph taken in the square of the emblematic monument to Argentine sovereignty over the South Atlantic, located in the capital of Tierra del Fuego .

The trophies won in recent years, in the World Cup, the Copa América and the Finalissima by the Argentine National Football Team, as well as the Futsal World Cup won in 2016 in Colombia, passed through the southernmost province. It was the 37th venue of the tour carried out throughout the country so that residents could see and take photos with the awards.

It is worth highlighting the emotion of many Malvinas residents in particular, due to the way in which the players of the football team , with Messi at the head, made their own the historic chant of encouragement that in its lyrics mentions " the kids of Malvinas that we will never forget ", as part of the rallying cry to encourage us to win and at the same time keep alive the just and legitimate claim on our territories usurped by the British since 1833.

An example of this feeling is the case of the journalist from Ushuaia, Martín “La Bestia Deportiva” Perez, who visited the exhibition on Saturday with his grandson, in the gymnasium of the Casa del Deporte. In the photograph that the journalist shared with Agenda Malvinas, he can be seen with the little member of the family . It is also worth mentioning that Perez is a historic local futsal and 11-a-side football player , having been a goalkeeper and top scorer in the teams he was part of in his youth.

Just like “ La Bestia Deportiva ”, hundreds of fans passed by the Casa del Deporte in Ushuaia on Friday and Saturday to take a picture next to the cups . On Sunday, it was the turn of the city of Río Grande, where residents were able to do the same from the morning at the Camionero Gymnasium .

During the remainder of the year , 50 more locations will be added to the exhibition tour , where Argentines will have the chance to see the trophies.

Authorities reported that “ the cups arrived in the province at approximately 11 a.m. (on Friday) and with fluid progress and coordination, members of all clubs affiliated with the Ushuaiense League had priority passage, while in the afternoon access was opened to the general public with the only requirement of collaborating with a non-perishable food item for the canteens and snack bars of the capital city .”

While they waited for their turn to have their photo taken (they could take it with a personal cell phone and there were also professional photographers at the event) they could also enjoy music and images projected on a screen of the three finals won by the Argentine National Team ,” they said in a press release.
