In a desperate attempt to reverse the image of negligence that hangs over its administration, the Tierra del Fuego government, through the president of the Provincial Port Authority (DPP), Roberto Murcia , has launched a disinformation campaign that borders on the technically absurd. The objective is clear: to use a Naval Prefecture certification regarding "police" security to conceal the dilapidated state of the infrastructure, a state they themselves admitted to the Federal Investment Council (CFI) .

Murcia maintains that the national intervention is a "narrative" because the port has a "Port Facility Compliance Declaration" valid until 2029. However, what the official omits—and Agenda Malvinas reveals after consulting experts—is that this document does not say a single word about the firmness of the pilings, the condition of the dock, or the collapse of the container yard.

1. Comparing Apples and Pears: Police Security vs. Structural Security
The certificate displayed by Murcia —and circulated by the government to the press—is governed by the ISPS Code and the SOLAS Convention . In professional terms, this means that the Port of Ushuaia complies with protocols to prevent terrorist attacks, sabotage, or unauthorized access .
Comparing a terrorism protection plan to the structural safety of a dock is a crude manipulation. A port can be perfectly fortified against an external attack and, at the same time, be on the verge of physical collapse due to lack of maintenance, as the government itself described to the Federal Investment Council (CFI) .
2. The contradiction admitted before the CFI
It is astonishing that Roberto Murcia speaks today of a "safe" and "internationally certified" port in its infrastructure, when it was his own department that told the CFI in 2022 that the commercial dock was in a "critical state" , under a "saturation situation" and of "TOTAL COLLAPSE" .
Who was the government lying to? Was it lying to the Federal Investment Council (CFI) to ask for help with privatization, claiming a collapse, or is it lying to the people of Tierra del Fuego today, saying everything is in order? The reality is that the Coast Guard's certificate only covers surveillance: Murcia admits that the "outstanding" issues from the inspection were simply a security camera and a lock. Nothing to do with the major infrastructure improvements the port has been demanding for years.
3. The "Loss" and the timely appearance
Another element that adds to the suspicions is the mysterious disappearance of the original document, which forced the issuance of a duplicate on January 14, 2026. What is the reason that the Government remained silent about this document for more than 90 days of national intervention?
If the certificate truly guaranteed the dock's safety, why wasn't it presented or made public on the day of the intervention? The answer is simple: because they know that, in the face of a technical engineering assessment, that document has no validity whatsoever to prove that the pilings aren't rotten or that the container yard isn't sinking.
The glass port
Melella and Murcia's maneuver is an information scam. Trying to calm public opinion by saying the port is safe because it has surveillance cameras, while technical engineering reports warn of a structural collapse, is utterly irresponsible.
The Provincial Government must stop hiding behind police certificates. The security of the "Gateway to Antarctica" isn't measured in electronic locks, but in real infrastructure investments that the administration led by Gustavo Melella and Mónica Urquiza chose to postpone in order to drain the port's coffers for political gain. The port is secure enough to prevent intruders, but it remains an imminent danger due to the structural negligence of those who now seek to mislead the public.
Murcia is using a "paper shield" that doesn't protect the infrastructure. If everything is in order, the Provincial Port Authority must immediately release the latest underwater inspection report of the pilings. This is the only document that could confirm or deny whether the collapse is real or fabricated.
