Río Grande was the city chosen to preview the series "Antarctica, Land of Pioneers", the first production filmed entirely on the white continent.
The event was organized by the Municipality together with the production company NUDO Produce and was held at the House of Culture, with the presence of representatives of the armed forces and residents of the city.
The screening, which included exclusive previews of the series, was accompanied by a talk in which the creators of the film participated, who shared the objectives and the process involved in carrying out this audiovisual production.
The series, which covers 120 years of the history of the Argentine presence in Antarctica, is a tribute to the work carried out in the Antarctic bases and aims to highlight Argentine sovereignty in this strategic territory.
The Undersecretary of Planning and Strategic Affairs of Río Grande, Santiago Barassi , highlighted “the work carried out by the administration of Mayor Martín Pérez to consolidate the city as a reference in the defense of national sovereignty. These types of initiatives contribute to strengthening our commitment to the Bicontinental Tierra del Fuego.”
For his part, Cristian Delicia , director and producer of the series, highlighted the importance of the project, which highlights the historical milestones of Antarctica, such as the first radiotelegraphic communication between continents and the expedition to the South Pole.
“It is an honor to share with Río Grande this preview of a series that highlights our history,” he said.
The series consists of nine episodes that include testimonies, documentary recordings and fictional period scenes, as well as original live music.
