This was spread throughout the late afternoon of Saturday, April 19, through various Argentine media outlets. The Argentine Post Office issued an explanation after a gross error was detected on its website: on the interactive map of branches, the Malvinas Islands appeared with the British name "Malvina Islands," while Puerto Argentino was listed as "Stanley."
In the branch search engine on the official website, the islands were listed under the British name, sparking outrage on social media and forcing the company to clarify the situation.
The situation has drawn strong criticism from the government's opposition, particularly from sectors that accuse Javier Milei's administration of maintaining an ambiguous stance regarding the sovereignty claim.
After the case went viral, the state-owned company issued a statement attributing the incident to an "inadvertent error" by the external mapping service provider.
According to the sources, the map was immediately removed and they are already working to correct it. Correo stated, " We reaffirm our commitment to Argentine sovereignty over the Malvina Islands."
"The Argentine Post Office reaffirms its commitment to Argentine sovereignty over the Malvina Islands, in line with our country's historical and institutional position and the values our company represents," they added in the statement.
