It is the second operation that the Air Force carries out with this type of aircraft in Antarctica. The first flight with a SAAB-340 took place on February 25, landing on the Marambio Base runway ; after having flown from Río Gallegos, where this fleet is based, and having stopped in Ushuaia to refuel for a flight of about 1,200 kilometers.
“The success of the mission is the result of meticulous planning and rigorous training supported by the vast experience of our Institution's staff. It also becomes a milestone for the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces and for the Joint Antarctic Command since it allows the connectivity of the Base to be enhanced as an Antarctic logistics center,” the Air Force expressed through a post in X.
“This fundamental achievement for the Argentine Nation contributes to reinforcing our country's commitment to the activities carried out on the white continent,” he concluded.
