Governor Gustavo Melella , together with the Minister of Production and Environment, Sonia Castiglione ; the Undersecretary of Fisheries, Diego Marcioni ; the legislator, Mónica Acosta and the owners of the company “Crustáceos Tierra del Fuego”, Agustín and Carlos Duval ; They visited the facilities of the new processing plant and the 'Nerea' boat that will be used for crustacean fishing in the Beagle Channel.
The ship will be in charge of providing the necessary merchandise to the plant, which plans to come into operation at the end of June.
The establishment has kitchens; brewing room; packing plant; freezing tunnels; product protection/maintenance chambers; enabled for the production of crustaceans, fish, mussels, urchins, among others.
In this regard, the Governor assured that, with this type of initiatives, “we are redefining public policy linked to fishing, where the State has the obligation, not only to take care of the natural resources that belong to all Fuegian people; but to give it added value.”
In this sense, the Provincial President said that “when we add value we generate more jobs, and that is what we want.”
For her part, Minister Sonia Castiglione explained that Crustáceos Tierra del Fuego is a new company that is established in the Province, and that goes hand in hand with the development of a public policy of the Ministry of Fisheries, linked to fresh fishing of crustaceans, and the processing of that merchandise on land.
Likewise, he announced that the Government "committed the company to work on the provision of the internal market, whether for neighbors or tourism, not only in terms of quantity and quality of the product but also in terms of its cost."
“This is a Premium product, it opens doors in many places in our country and the world, so export is another objective within the business unit,” indicated the provincial official.
Finally, Castiglione recognized the work carried out by the members of the Secretariat, “who are in charge of carrying out a committed, serious job with a great social conscience. That is why today they also accompany us on this tour.”
For his part, Agustín Duval said that the boat will work in the area after Almanza to Punta Falsa, to which another will be added.
