Kosovo: Milei opens a new diplomatic front that erodes the Malvinas Cause

Milei's greeting to the president of Kosovo, a country not recognized by Argentina after separating from Serbia, erodes the Malvinas Cause. This is especially true when Kosovar troops are training on the archipelago.

President Javier Milei's visit to Ushuaia this afternoon, as part of a meeting with his electoral candidates, was once again overshadowed by a diplomatic scandal that arose after his visit to New York.

National and international media report growing unrest in the Argentine diplomatic field following the effusive greeting and photograph taken by the president with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani during the United Nations General Assembly .

This meeting, the first of its kind at an official level, is considered by analysts and opposition figures to be a serious "diplomatic embarrassment" that undermines Argentina's historic position on the Malvinas Cause .

Contradiction with the principle of territorial integrity

Argentina has maintained its unchanged position since 2008: it does not recognize Kosovo as an independent state. The reason for this non-recognition is fundamental: Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia with the majority support of the United Kingdom, appealing to the principle of self-determination .

For Argentine diplomacy, recognizing Kosovo would set a dangerous precedent that would violate the principle of territorial integrity —the same principle Argentina uses to claim sovereignty over the Malvina Islands. Respecting Serbia's territorial integrity strengthens its claim to the Malvinas. Therefore, Argentina also does not recognize Crimea as Russian or Taiwan as independent.

The photograph of Milei with Osmani has been interpreted as a gesture that de facto endorses the principle of self-determination over territorial integrity, weakening Argentina's central argument against the United Kingdom . Former officials such as Guillermo Carmona have described the incident as "extremely serious," noting that it is hard to believe it was simply a mistake or ignorance.

Kosovo: military ally of the occupiers in the Malvinas

The unrest is heightened by Kosovo's role as a British military ally in the South Atlantic . Kosovo is not only a British protectorate in Eastern Europe, but its Security Force (KSF) also maintains an agreement with London that allows for the rotation of troops in the Malvina Islands.

Recently, Kosovar troops have participated in military exercises alongside the British unit that is forcibly securing the archipelago's usurpation . This fact, which previous governments have formally protested, turns Milei's greeting into tacit support for a country that directly collaborates in the military occupation of Argentine territory .

Some sources at the Foreign Ministry attempted to downplay the incident as a "serious diplomatic error" due to a lack of information or a breach of protocol by the Argentine representation at the UN. However, others suggest that the action was deliberate to "please Donald Trump," given Milei's unconditional alignment with Washington, which does recognize Kosovo .

The cost of unconditional alignment

The Kosovo controversy adds to growing concerns about the transfer of sovereignty under the financial agreement with the US (revealed by TN) , which includes the possibility of a US military presence in Ushuaia . Apparently, Milei's government is willing to sacrifice historical pillars of Argentine foreign policy —the Malvinas Cause and the principle of territorial integrity —in pursuit of automatic alignment with the United States and the financial oxygen it needs .

This new diplomatic front opened by the president, coupled with the controversy over the Integrated Naval Base with US military participation, underscores that the cost of the alliance with Washington is not only economic, but also the potential loss of diplomatic coherence and the erosion of the country's most sensitive state policy.

The Malvinas Cause, which should be above partisan interests, is being surgically dismembered by the Libertarian Regime.
