The public consultation planned by the illegitimate British government of the Malvina Islands to decide on the introduction of salmon farms in Argentine sovereign waters, usurped by Anglo-Saxon colonialism, has been delayed.
Originally scheduled to take place between April and June, the “vote” was postponed and will now take place between June 30 and August 24 , with a final report to be submitted to the Executive Council in September .
According to a statement, the schedule change is due to the need to "allow more time for preparation, background checks, and documentation, including details of the visit and experiences in the Faroe Islands."
The timing was further complicated by difficulties in the travel of authorities and experts , due to recent flight cancellations to Norway , where they were planning to gather information on salmon farming in similar environments.
The planned visit of MLA John Birmingham, the Director of Natural Resources and the Environment Minister to Norway and the Faroe Islands was also affected.
The purpose of these trips was to engage with companies and regulatory authorities to analyze production models and assess environmental risks.
The British population , which has repeatedly expressed its opposition to such projects that could affect biodiversity, sees this postponement as a way of delaying and possibly further limiting participation.
It is worth noting that the public consultation should include open meetings and sessions with key stakeholders , such as community groups, environmentalists and business leaders.
The initiative was launched by Unity Marine , a joint venture between Fortuna Ltd , a fishing company based in the islands, and Danish aquaculture consultancy F-Land ApS .
This company proposes an initial investment of 5 million pounds in an initial exploratory phase, with the goal of achieving a production of 50,000 tons of Atlantic salmon.
Plans include the installation of eight marine farms, located between 3 and 7 kilometers off the coast of Soledad Island, on both sides of its coastline.
In addition, two facilities for fry rearing with recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) are planned to be built near the Mount Pleasant military base and Puerto Nuevo , on the west coast of Soledad Island .
