Brazil allows “Malvinas” promotional stand at the International Tourism Fair

Another neighboring country joins the bad Uruguayan habit of giving shelter to the illegitimate occupants of the Malvinas so that they can promote tourism. This time, a “Malvinas” stand is displayed at the FIT in San Pablo.

One of the most prestigious tourism events in Brazil, the International Tourism Fair (FIT), which has been taking place since this Tuesday in the city of São Paulo, houses a stand that, under the name “Malvinas”, disseminates information for interested travelers. to visit the Argentine archipelago usurped by Great Britain. As happens in the most important rural and tourist fair in Uruguay every year, now another neighbor, Brazil, joins the questionable initiative of providing spaces for dissemination to the illegitimate occupiers, at a time when the United Nations voices in unison from all the countries in the world demand openness to dialogue to discuss the sovereignty that Argentina claims.

At the stand, those who manage it basically distribute brochures to the public with information about the islands and useful information for tourists. The stand, according to the Buenos Aires newspaper Ámbito, is located in a room at the Expo Center Norte, the building where the glamorous event for tourism companies is presented. Clearly the space displays a sign that says "Malvina Island", the British place name of the Argentine territory it usurps. Fortunately, the fair in San Pablo only lasts three days, from this Tuesday until next Thursday, April 7.

Attached to the Malvinas occupants' stand, a booth promotes Argentina with information about destinations, wine tasting, gastronomy, tango and folklore shows, etc. The new affront from our neighbor Brazil occurs exactly when the 40 years of the Malvinas war that led to the death of 649 Argentine soldiers are remembered.

It is evident that lukewarm Argentine diplomatic complaints are of no use in the face of this and other offensive initiatives from Brazil, especially Uruguay and, occasionally, Chile. Or perhaps it would be inconvenient for the Fernández government to inconvenience neighboring countries with this type of offense, lest the commercial ties that seem to be the only interest are put at risk.
