The Ministry of Economy of the Argentine Republic , through the National Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries , has crossed a red line that deeply offends national sensibilities and violates current regulations regarding the representation of Argentine territory. Through the National Crop Map, official cartography has been disseminated in which our Malvinas Islands appear under the British colonial name of "Malvina."
This "error"—which for many represents a symbolic surrender of the territory—is not an isolated incident, but rather another piece in the machinery of Javier Milei 's government's foreign policy. It is fitting that an administration led by a president who declares himself an admirer of Margaret Thatcher , and who has repeatedly proclaimed his support for the "self-determination" of the established colony, would ultimately erase the name of the Malvina Islands from its official records.
An insult to history and the Constitution
The use of the term "Malvinas" in a document of the Argentine State is a direct insult to the heroes who fell defending the archipelago and to the thousands of veterans who today safeguard the memory of the cause. Furthermore, it deliberately ignores Law 26.651 , which establishes the mandatory use of the bicontinental map and official Argentine toponymy.
