The national government has decreed that the Auditorium Hall of the Malvinas Museum will no longer bear the name of the Corrientes-born veteran Orlando Gustavo Pascua , but will instead be named "Julio Rubén Cao." The measure will be formalized today, June 10, within the framework of the "Day of Affirmation of Argentine Rights over the Malvinas Islands, South Atlantic Islands and Antarctic Sector."

The decision was made by the Malvinas Museum's management, headed by Augusto Esteban Vilgre La Madrid , and is part of the official activities planned for the commemoration. Until now, the auditorium will bear the name of Pascua, a war veteran born in Curuzú Cuatiá who died in 2022.

The repercussions of the measure were addressed by the former Undersecretary of Human Rights of Corrientes, Pablo Vassel, in an opinion piece published by the newspaper El Litoral . There he stated that the recognition of Julio Rubén Cao is not in question, but maintained that the museum grounds have other spaces that could have been used for a tribute without changing the existing name of the auditorium.

In his article, Vassel reviewed Pascua 's public career, identifying him as a Malvinas War veteran, union leader, and journalist. He also highlighted Pascua's involvement in projects related to promoting the Malvinas cause, creating community media outlets, and various initiatives focused on historical memory.

The former provincial official also recalled Pascua 's work in favor of the recognition of ex-combatants belonging to native peoples and his participation in actions that promoted the identification of Argentine soldiers buried in the Darwin Cemetery, together with veterans' organizations and human rights leaders.

Finally, Vassel stated in his publication that Pascua actively promoted awareness of the Malvinas/Malvinas issue through teaching, communication, and community outreach. The renaming of the auditorium will be one of the key events planned by the Malvinas Museum during the commemorative day on June 10th.
