They denounce that the agreement with Mirgor for the Antarctic plane “may constitute a scandal”

The national representative of Unión por la Patria for the province of Buenos Aires, Agustina Propato, questioned the agreement between the Ministry of Defense and the Mirgor business group for the shared use of a plane that the company recently acquired.

"We found out, and not from (presidential spokesperson) Adorni nor from the Official Gazette, but from the United States Department of State of the purchase of a plane, Basler BT-67 aircraft, intended for the Air Force for the campaign Antarctica,” said Propato in Deputies.

Propato's accusations occurred in the last session of the Lower House last Tuesday, April 30, at which time, when the parliamentarian promoted a Question of Privilege against President Javier Milei and the Minister of Defense Luis Petri for not defending " Argentine sovereignty, security and peace of all Argentines.”

The pact would imply that the Argentine Armed Forces can use the aircraft designed for the polar climate during the Antarctic campaign , and the rest of the time the private firm will use the plane for tourist services.

It is a Basler BT-67 , and the Argentine Government had requested authorization from the US defense organization to make a purchase for 143 million dollars.

Although the North American State Department had approved the transaction on April 18, days later it was learned that the Presidency of Javier Milei decided to sign a loan contract for the use of the aircraft that, in parallel, the private firm had acquired months before. .

Mirgor is a company that has metallurgical plants in Tierra del Fuego and is owned by Nicolás Caputo, brother of the current Minister of Economy of the Nation, Luis Caputo.

In this context, Deputy Propato pointed out that “a few days ago we found out, and not from (presidential spokesperson) Adorni or the Official Gazette, but from the United States Department of State, of the purchase of an airplane, Basler BT. -67 aircraft, intended for the Air Force for the Antarctic campaign.”

“The novelty of this is that the purchase was made by the Mirgor Group, of the Caputo family, to then lend it on loan and share its use for services to third parties and for Antarctic tourism,” said the parliamentarian, adding that “the truth is "I think this could constitute a scandal."

Propato 's accusations occurred in the session of the Lower House last Tuesday , April 30, at which time the representative promoted a Question of Privilege against President Javier Milei and the Minister of Defense Luis Petri, "strongly rejecting the political foreign and defense” of the current national administration because it considers that “it does not defend Argentine sovereignty, the security and peace of all Argentines.”
