Lawmakers seek to settle 100% of the State's debt to Malvinas Veterans

They propose the payment of the 104 months owed from 1982 to 1990, in which the State failed to comply with international treaties and does not provide psychological assistance, medical coverage and economic compensation to the Ex-Combatants.

The project was presented by National Deputies Aldo Leiva and Victoria Tolosa Paz.

After decades of legal and administrative claims, the National Congress is considering a bill that not only has symbolic value, but also represents an act of arithmetic and moral justice. The "Malvinas Historical Reparation" initiative proposes the payment of compensation that, according to technical calculations, covers the entire period during which veterans were abandoned by the Argentine State.

The accuracy of the claim

The legal and welfare void began on April 2 or June 14, 1982. Despite international commitments and the Geneva Accords, the soldiers returned to the mainland without psychological or medical assistance, nor any financial support. This situation of complete lack of protection persisted until the end of 1990, when the normalization of benefits began.

If we calculate the time elapsed between the start of the conflict and October 9, 1990 (a key date in the institutionalization of pensions), the result is 104 months and a fraction of a day .

The bill presented by Representatives Aldo Leiva (a war veteran) and Victoria Tolosa Paz proposes the payment of 104 minimum wages . This means the proposal fully covers the accumulated debt , recognizing month by month the time the State was absent.

The repair details

The project establishes a payment scheme designed to be sustainable but definitive:

This is not a "subsidy," nor a benefit granted out of political generosity. It is about wages earned but not paid for services rendered to the nation on the front lines.
