HORZONTAL DENTRO DE NOTA - 700x80 SUPERIOR

The CECIM La Plata issued a formal warning to Milei, threatening him with criminal charges for treason.

The veterans' organization is demanding that the President retract his statement within 24 hours. They warn that subordinating sovereignty to the "wishes" of the colony violates the Constitution and dishonors the memory of those who died in the Malvinas War. If he does not retract his statement, he will be confirming his intention to disregard the constitutional mandate, which will allow for criminal charges to be filed.

The silence of the Casa Rosada in response to this formal letter will be interpreted as a ratification of the handover.

In a formal letter sent on January 2nd, the veterans demanded that the President retract his statement within 24 hours. They warned that subordinating sovereignty to the "wishes" of the islanders violates the Constitution, dishonors the memory of the fallen, and constitutes a "flagrant breach of the duties of a public official."

The sovereignty crisis sparked by Javier Milei's statements to the British newspaper The Telegraph has escalated from political outrage to direct legal action . This Friday, January 2nd, the Malvinas Islands Ex-Combatants Center (CECIM) La Plata sent a formal letter to the President of Argentina, demanding a public retraction of his statements within 24 hours .

The indictment is devastating : the CECIM accuses the president of being involved in the crime of breach of the duties of a public official (Art. 248 of the Penal Code) and describes his position as a "mark of infamy" that places him in an objective situation of treason against the homeland .

The Ex-Combatants' Ultimatum

In the text, the CECIM recalls that Milei, in his capacity as a plenipotentiary official, has sworn to a Constitution that in its First Transitional Provision requires respect for the "way of life" of the islanders, but never their "wishes".

"The constitutional mandate calls for respecting the islanders' way of life, but never, under any circumstances or justification, their wishes ," the letter states. The veterans emphasize that this distinction is not merely semantic, but rather the basis of UN Resolution 2065 , which the President is obligated to uphold, not undermine in the eyes of the foreign press .

The military base and the regional danger

The formal letter addresses not only legal matters but also national security . The CECIM criticizes Milei for ignoring that the UK's military base in the Malvina Islands "threatens the security of the region" and conditions Argentina's position through a "belligerent imposition."

For the ex-combatants, seeking the lifting of an arms embargo in exchange for softening the sovereignty claim is not only a diplomatic mistake, but also a disregard for the memory of those who lie in the usurped territory .

Consequences: The clock is ticking for the Casa Rosada

With this notification, the CECIM La Plata has activated a legal mechanism that leaves the Executive Branch with no room to maneuver:

1.    If Milei does not retract his statement: He will be confirming his intention to deviate from the constitutional mandate, which will enable immediate criminal charges and serve as irrefutable proof for the impeachment proceedings in Congress.

2.    If Milei retracts: He will have to explain to the United Kingdom and the international media that his statements were a mistake, which would mean a diplomatic humiliation, but would (momentarily) avoid legal action for breach of duty.

Argentina faces a historic crossroads . The CECIM's warning makes it crystal clear: one cannot be President of the Republic and, at the same time, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office's strategy.

The Casa Rosada's silence regarding this formal letter will be interpreted as a ratification of the surrender . As the CECIM rightly points out, the recovery of the Malvinas is a non-negotiable objective that does not allow for colonial "desires." Either the Constitution is upheld, or impeachment will be faced.
