Malvinas War veterans join forces to help Bahía Blanca

In the face of the devastating crisis caused by the recent flooding in Bahía Blanca, the Malvinas War Veterans Center in Santa Fe has once again demonstrated its solidarity, working with other centers across the country. They assembled a truckload of supplies and sent it with a war veteran who is providing transportation.

Upon arrival in Bahía Blanca, veterans from the region will be responsible for distributing the donations to those affected.

A truck full of donations left Choele Choel, Río Negro, bound for the affected city, carrying with it not only material goods, but also a powerful message of unity and support among compatriots , generated by a group of survivors of the war for Argentine sovereignty in 1982.

In this noble initiative, the Malvinas War Veterans Center in Santa Fe worked in close coordination with veterans from other provinces , managing to gather a significant shipment that included mattresses, clothing, food, and cleaning supplies.

" We are a link in this. Today it's our turn to help them, just as they were supportive of us when we returned from the war ," representatives of the organization shared in a conversation with El Litoral .

This gesture, although considered " humble " by veterans, reflects the deep empathy and desire to contribute to the recovery of those who are currently facing a critical situation.

One of the fundraiser organizers emphasized the community's generosity. " We received so many donations, and I think we need half a truckload more, because this one won't be enough ," he admitted, underscoring the magnitude of the response to the disaster.

For his part, a veteran added that his colleagues in Bahía Blanca are rising to the occasion, collaborating to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most.

Memory also plays a crucial role in this joint action. The veterans recalled the solidarity their hometown received during the 2003 flood , and how that support has left a lasting mark on their hearts.

" Now we have to help Bahía Blanca; this is a day where national solidarity is expressed and unites us ," reflected one of the organizers, highlighting the importance of cooperation in difficult times.

On the other hand, a veteran , who made his truck available from Río Negro , described how he coordinated with the Municipality of Santo Tomé and other veterans to make the trip possible.

This wasn't a one-off effort; in fact, the same person had previously made trips to deliver donations from other cities , a testament to a consistent commitment to the charitable cause.

" We live in Choele Choel and we travel to Bahía Blanca and back every week. We've already made several trips delivering donations ," the former combatant commented.

The collection has mobilized many people in Santa Fe , who continue to contribute goods for future relief trips. " It's 100 cubic meters, and we're already filling it ," the veteran stated to applause.
