Tierra del Fuego Senator Cristina López called Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos a liar.

Offended, the national official left the room, prompting the parliamentarian to accuse him of "running away like a rat." "We are thousands of Fuegians who believe the president wants to hand our province over to the Yankees and to the highest bidder," López said. The exchange continued on social media.

López called him a "liar," Francos asked him to rectify his decision, and when he refused, he left the meeting.

The session in which Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos's management report was debated was abruptly interrupted after an intense incident involving Cristina López, a senator from Tierra del Fuego for the Justicialist Party, who became one of the main voices of the Tierra del Fuego opposition in Congress.

It all began when López , in his speech, called him a "liar" for the measures taken by the national government against Argentine industry and sovereignty in the country's southernmost province.

I read very carefully the responses you sent us and I must tell you that you are a liar ,” López said, introducing his criticism of the national government , adding that “ for you and Javier Milei, Tierra del Fuego is a point on the map for negotiating with foreign powers.”

" We are thousands of Fuegians who believe that the president wants to hand over our province to the Yankees and to the highest bidder ," the parliamentarian claimed.

Immediately afterward, Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos said he was offended by the term " liar " and asked López to correct himself.

However, the Upper House member's response was to double down, as Francos left the room where he was to present his political measures: " Oh, poor thing... he's lying. Someone who is a liar can't be called a liar."

The scandal led to a 30-minute recess, and due to the absence of the national official, it was decided to resume the session next Wednesday, July 2, at 11:00 a.m.

However, the exchange of statements continued on social media, where X Francos justified himself by stating that "I decided not to remain in the premises due to the lack of respect and inappropriate accusations."

Mr. @GAFrancosOk , what you call "disrespect" was speaking the truth to your face. You didn't back down; you ran away like a "rat" (as your president calls us).

López immediately responded on the same platform: " You didn't withdraw, you ran away like a rat (as your president calls us). If defending Tierra del Fuego, denouncing the surrender of sovereignty, the abandonment of public works, and the destruction of Tierra del Fuego's industry bothers you, the problem isn't mine, it's yours ."
