President Javier Milei's campaign visit to Ushuaia, scheduled for this Monday, September 29, has already received a direct response from the Fuegian union. The Unified Union of Fuegian Education Workers (SUTEF) called for a "flag demonstration" of condemnation.

Under the slogan "Flag for Sovereignty," the rally has been scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the emblematic Plaza Islas Malvinas . The choice of location underscores the central thrust of the protest, which not only targets the austerity measures and the depletion of the state promoted by the national government, but also focuses on Milei's controversial positions regarding Argentine rights in the South Atlantic and southern development.

The Tierra del Fuego teachers' union stated that the mobilization will be carried out in defense of national sovereignty and in rejection of policies they describe as "adjustment, plunder, and cruelty" that are detrimental to the state structure and its workers .

The protest adds to the pre-existing climate of unrest in the province, generated by the reduction of import tariffs that threaten the local electronics industry and the opening to US military interference in the strategic Antarctic Logistics Hub, a project that Milei promoted with the Southern Command.

The call invites the community to demonstrate, carrying flags and signs, seeking to express strong social condemnation of a President who has already been declared "persona non grata" by the Ushuaia City Council due to his remarks about the Malvinas Islands.

Milei's arrival , focused on supporting the La Libertad Avanza candidates in the October legislative elections, is thus marked by a protest that will highlight the deep tensions her policies generate in the southernmost part of the country.
