Milei normalizes dispossession by disseminating maps without the Malvinas or Tucumán

In 48 hours, the National Government went from using "Malvina" in a technical report of the National Crop Monitoring; to the president himself releasing maps where the Malvina Islands and Tucumán do not exist.

The map published by advisor Felipe Núñez and replicated by President Milei bore the seal and legend: "Source: IAE - Monthly Economic Report March 2026"; implying that the information came from the IAE Business School, the School of Management and Business of the Austral University.

The National Executive Branch has launched a "cartographic cleansing" campaign that violates the National Constitution and Law 26,651, the Bicontinental Map Law. Following the use of the colonial term "Malvina" in a report by the Ministry of Economy, President Javier Milei escalated the situation by circulating a false economic map that completely omits the province of Tucumán and the southern archipelago.

The image, shared by the president and his top economic advisors—such as Felipe Núñez and Martín Vauthier —was intended to show supposed national economic growth by province, in order to attack the Buenos Aires provincial government. However, the image—allegedly generated with uncontrolled artificial intelligence—contained glaring errors: the disappearance of Tucumán and the complete absence of the Malvina Islands .

The seriousness of the matter doubled when the Austral University (IAE Business School) issued an urgent statement clarifying that the report was apocryphal and that the institution never produced such a map.

The map published by advisor Felipe Núñez and shared by President Milei bore the seal and caption: "Source: IAE - Monthly Economic Report March 2026" ; implying that the information came from the IAE Business School , the Austral University School of Management and Business .

The University had to clarify that the report did not exist in its records and that it had never produced that data or those maps. This demonstrated that not only were economic data falsified for official propaganda, but that an academic institution was used as a shield to disseminate a map that distorts the national territory .

A pro-British state policy

What the ruling party tries to downplay as a "social media blunder" is, in reality, consistent with the geopolitical DNA of its libertarian approach . For a president who sees himself as an admirer of Margaret Thatcher and who has defended the "self-determination" of the implanted colony he calls islanders (a concept rejected by international law for implanted populations), the fact that the Malvina Islands are not on his map is not an oversight: it's a message.

This behavior adds to the recent publication of the National Crop Monitoring , under the portfolio of Luis “Toto” Caputo , where Argentine toponymy was replaced by British ones.

Erasing Tucumán from the map is a lack of federal respect; erasing the Malvinas is a violation of the constitutional mandate that obliges every public official to defend the recovery of the exercise of sovereignty.

Fact: Law 26.651 establishes that the omission of the Malvina Islands in official cartography or the use of foreign toponymy is subject to sanctions, since the bicontinental map is the only legal design of the Argentine Republic.
