The 18th meeting of the Argentine-Chilean Southern Integration Committee is held in Ushuaia

It will take place this Monday, October 24 and Tuesday, October 25, becoming a possibility to advance issues of relevance to the province of Tierra del Fuego and the XII Region of Chile.

The Province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands will be the official headquarters of the XVIII Meeting of the Southern Integration Committee, which will take place on Monday, October 24 and Tuesday, October 25 at the Arakur Hotel in the city of Ushuaia.

It constitutes a bilateral relationship mechanism established between the Republic of Chile and the Argentine Republic, where through direct dialogue the main issues of the common agenda are analyzed and reviewed; as well as the achievements and difficulties inherent to the integration process between the Chilean Regions and Argentine Provinces that compose it.

In this regard, the secretary of the Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands and International Affairs, Andrés Dachary , highlighted that the possibility of the Province being the Official Headquarters of the 18th Meeting of the Southern Integration Committee, “represents the opportunity to advance the issues on the agenda.” that have been pending since the last Southern Integration Committee, held in 2018.”

Likewise, the Undersecretary of Cross-Border Cooperation, Bruno Bonomi , said that "these bilateral mechanisms represent the natural environment to promote joint actions aimed at deepening cooperation, integration and complementarity between the subnational states that are part of the Committee."

Having as their main objective to deepen the path of integration and strengthen bilateral relations for the benefit of both peoples, these forums for meeting and collaboration between the public and private sectors of the Argentine provinces and Chilean regions to promote integration at the subnational level; will allow progress on matters of relevance to the Government of the Province.

The evolution of the Southern Integration Committee has made it possible to expand the concept of Chilean-Argentine cooperation and integration. Among the agenda items, those that refer to border facilitation stand out; tourism and natural resources.

Given the importance of the Southern Integration Committee for both nations, it is expected to have the presence of the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic in Chile, Dr. Rafael Bielsa ; the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile in Argentina, Lic. Bárbara Figueroa ; the Governor of the XII Region of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica, Dr.Jorge Flies Añon the Governor of the XI Region of Aysen, Andrea Macias Palma and the Governor of Santa Cruz, Dr.
