Argentine politics should be shaken by the recent statements of Gastón Alberdi, who was not only one of the founders of La Libertad Avanza, but also part of Javier Milei's inner circle in its early days.
The Liberal leader, a descendant of Juan Bautista Alberdi, made an extremely serious accusation: he confirmed that an Israeli company controlled by Eduardo Elsztain—a powerful Argentine/Israeli real estate developer and financier closely linked to the president—sold the missiles to the United Kingdom that are currently deployed in the Malvina Islands .
"I'm not surprised that Milei would benefit a traitor like Elsztain, who is an arms dealer with the United Kingdom and who sold missiles that are in the Malvinas and are aimed at our continent ," Alberdi said at the 15-minute mark of an interview this week with Viviana Canosa , which we are sharing here. According to his testimony, the firm involved is Rafael Limited, associated with the international conglomerate in which Elsztain is heavily involved .
At the 15-second mark of the interview, Gastón Alberdi calls Eduardo Elsztain a traitor to the country who "sold missiles" to Great Britain "that are in the Malvinas, aimed at our continent."
The accusation does not arise in a vacuum. In June 2019, Agenda Malvinas had already reported that the billionaire, president of IRSA and CRESUD , controlled an Israeli corporation linked to the production of weapons destined for the usurped archipelago.
The report indicated that Rafael Defense System , a UK supplier, was part of the network of companies belonging to the IDBD holding company , acquired by Elsztain in 2013. That warning, almost ignored at the time, takes on greater significance today after Alberdi's words .
Who is Alberdi
The complainant is no stranger. He's a longtime liberal who claims ancestry with Juan Bautista Alberdi. "My genetics are 100 percent liberal; I'm descended from Alberdi, the creator of the Constitution," he introduced himself.
He was one of the men recruited by Manuel Adorni and Fausto Spotorno in 2020 to strengthen the space that would later become La Libertad Avanza, and he participated in the first meetings at Ramiro Marra 's offices. From that initial core, he claims to have witnessed firsthand the connections and business dealings surrounding Milei.
In his account, Alberdi also took aim at José Luis Espert , whom he described as "the narco-representative who answered to Federico Fred Machado," linked to international drug trafficking. He crudely described the relationships that, according to him, intertwined emerging liberal politics with figures of dubious reputation. "All this information is in files in New York and Texas. If there's any judge with the balls, let him bring him to Argentina and try him," he demanded.
Who are the Milei?
His criticisms hit Karina Milei squarely, whom he accused of directly asking him for cash for the campaign. "I gave $11,500. She asked me for it and kept it in her Gucci purse," he stated. According to his testimony, the sale of candidacies and the fundraising role of the president's sister were decisive in his departure from the party. "I believed in a liberal project, not in a division of positions," he maintained.
Alberdi's statements about Javier Milei himself were equally devastating. He described him as "a liar and a psychiatrist," mentioned his treatments with Valcote and Quetiapine, and even accused him of sharing "videos of pedophilia, bestiality, and gay pornography" with those close to him.
He also claimed that the president's relationship with his cloned dogs was a sign of his "sick madness" and that for years he received financial help from friends to survive. Cryptically, Alberdi stated that "there's nothing wrong with accepting one's sexual orientation," but rather with the public homophobia of a government that, according to him, doesn't accept its own reality.
"It doesn't surprise me that if he screwed a friend, now he's screwing the Argentines ," said someone who knows the current Argentine president like few others.
Who is Elsztain
Meanwhile, Eduardo Elsztain appears to be a central player in the network surrounding Milei . A shopping mall magnate and owner of IRSA and CRESUD , the businessman has also made inroads into the mining industry and recently accompanied Karina Milei to the PDAC international trade fair in Canada.
His ties to political power are longstanding, from the Menem administration to the present. His name was also included in the Paradise Papers for tax evasion and money laundering schemes.
His background includes interesting facts such as Milei's recent free stay at his Hotel Libertador after the elections . It also includes Elsztain 's failed attempt to buy the Malvinas Island Company in 2017, thwarted by the British colonial government, which refused to allow the "archile's dominant business" to pass into Argentine hands.
Adding to these controversies is now Alberdi's accusation, which directly positions him—and no less—as a supplier of arms to the United Kingdom to reinforce the occupation of the Malvinas.
The testimony of Milei's former ally, beyond its personal and provocative tone, exposes a front of enormous geopolitical gravity: an Argentine businessman close to the president, denounced for supplying weapons to the British usurper in a disputed territory. For Alberdi, this is proof that private interests and politics have merged into a point of national betrayal .
