The British Empire will send a new governor to the colony established in the Malvinas.

Colin Martin-Reynolds, who served as Consul General in Washington and ambassador to Colombia from 2019 to 2022, will replace Alison Blake starting in July.

Colin Martin-Reynolds CMG, the new Governor-designate for the Malvinas, will also serve as Her Majesty's Commissioner for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.

The British colony of the Malvinas will have a new governor starting in July. Colin Martin-Reynolds CMG will also serve as Her Majesty's Commissioner for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands . The announcement was made by the Foreign Office and the outgoing governor , Alison Blake, via her account on the social media platform X.

The designated diplomat joined the Foreign Office in 1990 and has held many positions in his long career, including Consul General in Washington, Deputy Chief of Mission in Brasilia, and later as ambassador to the Colombian government in Bogotá.

Most recently, Martin-Reynolds was Director of Organizational Improvement at the Foreign Office . He will be coming to the Malvina Islands to share the governing duties with the recently appointed Deputy Governor (a kind of lieutenant governor), Stephen Brice , who has been in office since last April.

Alison Blake's successor will arrive in the usurped Malvina Islands with his wife Sam and son Raphael . In his initial statements on his social media account X, he said he was “excited to soon join the community of the incredible Malvina Islands. I look forward to listening, learning and doing all I can to support the Government in defending the values and prosperity of the Islands. And to a great adventure!”

Regarding the current representative of the Crown Alison Blake , the first woman appointed to the position of Governor, will step down after three years in office. Having been absent for extended periods due to health reasons, she is being replaced by her alternate, Dave Morgan , currently the Alternate Governor of Bermuda.

Martin Reynolds will take the oath of office upon arrival on the Argentine islands, seized since 1833, in an event that will also include a military parade.
