In 2018, Donald Trump suggested to Mauricio Macri that he conquer Chile.

The Chilean newspaper La Tercera published it this Friday, and there was no denial. The US president's suggestion to the Argentine president was made during the G-20 meeting in Buenos Aires.

"You should conquer Chile so you'd have access to both oceans," Donald Trump advised Mauricio Macri.

At a recent seminar in Madrid, former Argentine President Mauricio Macri declassified the conversation that took place during the 2018 G20 in Buenos Aires with his American counterpart Donald Trump, revealing that during that meeting, Trump suggested conquering Chile to have "both oceans."

"Flies don't enter a closed mouth," the saying goes; but former Argentine President Mauricio Macri chose to open his mouth seven years later, recalling this Friday in Madrid, the capital of the Kingdom of Spain, an unusual anecdote about something the current US President Donald Trump told him during his visit to Buenos Aires for the G20 in 2018.

A revelation that, despite its unprecedented nature, is nonetheless unpleasant and deeply offensive to the historic relationship between Argentina and Chile, which dates back to the wars of independence to free the continent from the bloodthirsty Spanish colonialism, led by General José de San Martín more than 200 years ago, and which both Yankee and Anglo-Saxon imperialism are determined to destroy.

Macri's revelation came during the International Seminar of the Liberty and Democracy Group , a meeting that brought together liberal leaders from the region and also honored the recently deceased Peruvian writer and politician Mario Vargas Llosa.

By way of introduction, the former Argentine head of state stated: “Today I'm going to remember a friend, Donald Trump… He has been a great friend of Argentina because of this personal relationship we had,” which dates back to when Macri was 24 and Trump was 38. “We became friends. We were so young back then.”

"I received him in Buenos Aires for the G20, because he was making an official visit. I had a map of Argentina to explain who he was visiting and the provinces," the former Argentine head of state added.

"He starts looking at the map and suddenly sees a strip to the left, Chile, and says: 'And what is this?' I say, 'It's Chile.' Then he tells me: 'You should conquer Chile so you have access to both oceans,'" Macri explained, referring to the comment made by the then-current US president.

"Then, as the years go by and one hears (in recent months what Trump has said about) Canada and Greenland, that kind of thing sounds familiar to me," reflected Macri, contributing from Spain, yet another act in support of those who oppose Latin American unity, the Great Homeland; the spirit and banner of the fathers who gave birth to continental freedom .
