Two housing modules were enabled and triple solar energy equipment was put into operation.

Last Friday the 25th, the Argentine Navy held the inauguration ceremony for the enhancement of the Argentine Maritime Traffic Surveillance and Control Post (PVYCTM) of Hito 1 ; located at the southern end of the Atlantic mouth of the Strait of Magellan, corresponding to the northern vertex of the Big Island of Tierra del Fuego, of the province of the same name.

It was a donation of two housing modules by the Mirgor Foundation, and a triple set of solar energy equipment by the company Total Energies.

The event was chaired by the Commander of the Southern Naval Area (ANAU), Navy Commodore José Alberto Marti Garro , who was accompanied by the President of the Mirgor Foundation, Mercedes Rotondó; its Director, Soledad Bertona, and the Public Affairs Manager of the company Total Energies, Claudia Borbolla. The provincial Minister of Public Works, María Gabriela Castillo, also participated; the Secretary of State for Security, José Díaz, and authorities of the Austral Marine Infantry Force and special guests.

After the entry of the authorities, the National Anthem was sung, to give way to the religious invocation carried out by Chaplain Guido Casillo, which culminated with the blessing of the housing modules.

The ANAU Commander expressed his pride in the event and recalled that this work to revalue Milestone 1 was carried out only a year ago and highlighted how selflessly the Mirgor Foundation, Total Energies and its partners, Wintershall Dea and Panamerican Energy, joined forces for the realization of this objective.

Finally, Marti Garro remarked that “this initiative will improve the conditions of habitability, operation and sustainability of the post, constituting an example of joint work between the institutions of the National State and the contribution of private companies” and added: “The work establishes a clear example of synergy, which is materialized in the work of construction companies and specialized labor based in the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands.”

The ceremony culminated with the singing of the Malvinas March, after which the ribbon was cut and the agreement was signed that inaugurated the enhancement works.
