British Ambassador to Chile Louise De Sousa visited the Malvina Islands for the first time after more than three years in office.
In a press conference, the ambassador of the usurping power said that "one of the main responsibilities of those in the Southern Cone is to defend and advance the interests of the Malvinas and the interests of the United Kingdom in the South Atlantic," according to the MercoPress portal.
De Sousa also referred to the public diplomacy programs supported by Chile, the usurping government of the Malvina Islands and other South American countries.
During his visit, De Sousa met with members of the island's illegitimate legislature, scientists and members of the Chilean community in the Malvina Islands, which represents more than 5% of the local population.
De Sousa highlighted the scientific cooperation between the usurping government of the Malvina Islands and Chile, pointing out that joint work in science has global relevance.
He also mentioned the importance of public diplomacy and the programs supported by the Chilean government, in which people are sent to the Malvina Islands to promote deeper understanding.
“Every year we send a student, a journalist, a social media influencer and the idea is that they return better informed and act as ambassadors for the modern and updated Malvinas ,” said the ambassador.
Speaking at a press conference, De Sousa stressed that one of his main roles in the Southern Cone is to defend the interests of the United Kingdom in the South Atlantic.
He also expressed his desire to learn from the various communities that are occupying the Malvinas Islands and highlighted his ongoing relationship with the legislators of the illegal occupation regime.
He also posted a video on TikTok, reaffirming the colonialist arrogance of the United Kingdom over the Malvinas and praising the cooperation between Chile and the islands.
In his post, De Sousa praised and valued the cooperation of the Chilean government with the Malvinas - which he insists on calling the Malvinas - and highlighted the values of the "brilliant" Chilean democracies and of the invaders of the Argentine islands, as reported by Diario Popular.
The ambassador's visit was considered an "unacceptable provocation" by local authorities in Argentina, the RT news portal reported.
"As legitimate Governor of the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia, South Sandwich and the corresponding maritime and island areas, I repudiate the presence in our Province of the British Ambassador in Chile, as her visit constitutes an unacceptable provocation ," wrote Gustavo Melella on his X account.
"Madam Ambassador Louise de Sousa, please put aside the colonialist lobby and comply with the international obligations incumbent on the United Kingdom to put an end to colonialism in all its forms and manifestations and resolve disputes by peaceful means. Malvinas is Argentina ," said the governor of the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands.
