Charlie Harmer is the new commander of the NATO military base in the Malvinas.

He participated in conflicts with the Atlantic Alliance: in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He was commander of the King's Own Gurkha Artillery Regiment and arrived in the Malvinas on Friday, June 13.

Brigadier Charlie Harmer recently assumed the role of Commander, British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI), based at the Mount Pleasant Complex in the Malvina Islands. He took up his duties on Friday, June 13, 2025.

He belongs to the British Royal Artillery . He joined the British Army in 2001 and over the course of 24 years, he has gained operational military experience within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq . Due to his background, he was appointed as a supervisor of the Regimental Selection Boards at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst , the initial training center for British Army officers located in Camberley .

He was recently promoted to Brigadier to assume his new role as Commander of BFSAI , the Monte Agradable Military Base. Months earlier, he had already been in the islands with the rank of Colonel in charge of the Royal Gurkha Artillery, which operated in Chile and the Malvinas until last March.

However, much of his career has focused on operations in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Missions in which the United Kingdom has participated as part of international coalitions under the NATO umbrella .

On Saturday, June 14, he was welcomed and on the 17th he was received at Government House by the illegitimate Governor Alison Blake , legislators from the colony and representatives of the occupation government.
