Governor Melella issued an ultimatum to the LATAM flight to the Malvinas Islands.

"If LATAM doesn't recognize the name of our airport, it can say goodbye to Ushuaia," he warned. He said the required condition was that the flight be announced as "MALVINAS ARGENTINAS OR PUERTO ARGENTINO."

A LATAM stopover in Ushuaia, en route to the Malvinas, on the ninth anniversary of the Foradori-Duncan Agreement.

The governor of Tierra del Fuego, Gustavo Melella, issued a forceful statement regarding the LATAN decision to remove the name "Malvinas Argentinas" from the Ushuaia airport at the request of the British government, which has usurped the islands from Argentina .

"Our condition was and so we agreed that the MALVINAS ARGENTINAS or PUERTO ARGENTINO destination was announced ," Melella stated, adding: " And If LATAM doesn't recognize the name of our airport, they can say goodbye to ush."

In an exclusive response to Agenda Malvinas, provided early this Saturday, September 13, the Fuegian leader challenged (at least verbally) the continuation of the flight stopover between Punta Arenas and Monte Agradable at the "Malvinas Argentinas" airport in Ushuaia, which begins today . However, as of the closing of this article, the official name of the Fuegian capital was still not appearing on LATAM's flight platform.

A stopover in Ushuaia nine years after the Foradori-Duncan Agreement

The controversy over the Latam flight, in which the will of the Kelpers is currently prevailing, takes on even deeper significance as it coincides with a key date: September 13, 2016. Exactly nine years ago, Mauricio Macri's government signed the Foradori-Duncan Agreement with the United Kingdom.

The agreement, entirely advantageous to the United Kingdom and detrimental to Argentine sovereignty, included concessions in hydrocarbons, fishing, and logistics in the South Atlantic. This pact, later repudiated, is recalled today, when an airline obeys the orders of a colonial legislative assembly, in a new chapter that underscores the vulnerability of Argentina's position in the face of the United Kingdom's fait accompli policy in the Malvina Islands.

The flight diversion is due to repairs to the runway at Río Gallegos Airport, a regular stopover point, but the omission of the full name of Ushuaia Airport, as warned by Agenda Malvinas, is clearly a direct attack on national sovereignty . While the British colony celebrates this victory as a "triumph" in its media, the Argentine and Tierra del Fuego governments have maintained a silence that is now dramatically broken by the governor's remarks.

Melella's stance adds a new layer of extreme tension, forcing LATAM to face a difficult decision: yield to pressure from an illegitimate colonial government, or respect the name of an Argentine airport and honor the memory of the Malvinas heroes to avoid the suspension of its stopover.

We also asked the governor, but he did not respond, if he was not aware of this situation regarding how the flight appears on the website” and if “ he had not been informed of what was published by the Kelper Penguin News, regarding the request and demand made to the airline by the illegitimate colonial authorities to comply with their desire to de-Malvinize.”
