In a recent display of military capabilities, Roulement Infantry Company of the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 SCOTS) conducted a joint exercise in the Malvina Islands, working closely with the Malvina Islands Defense Force, the Royal Navy through the patrol vessel HMS Forth and the Royal Air Force (RAF).
Official sources from the British government usurping the Argentine Islands stated that the main objective of this exercise was to improve interoperability and strengthen coordination between the British military forces and the Malvina Islands Defense Force, facing the challenging terrain of the Malvinas to optimize its operational capabilities.
“Enthusiasm and commitment”
The official Twitter account of the British Forces in the South Atlantic Islands expressed their enthusiasm for this joint exercise: “Roulement Infantry Company @CO2SCOTS has recently completed an exercise in the Malvina Islands. Working in conjunction with the Malvina Islands Defense Force, Royal Navy, and Royal AirForce.”

2 SCOTS, formally known as The Royal Highland Fusiliers, is a light infantry battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. This regiment, before its restructure on 28 March 2006, was an independent infantry unit, created by the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Fusiliers and the Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment) in January 1959.
The commanding officer of the Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland, also praised the team's performance on his Twitter account: “Fantastic work by the Fire Support Coy on the @BFSouthAtlantic. “It’s good to see the team working in a joint environment.”
It should be noted that, in response to queries made by Escenario Mundial, the Argentine Foreign Ministry has not issued comments on these military exercises in the Malvinas Islands. The continued presence and military preparation of the United Kingdom in the region is a topic of constant interest and sensitivity for Argentine foreign policy.
