“Antarctica is an indivisible part of our identity, we Fuegians are Antarctica, we are the Malvinas and the South Atlantic”

It was held by the Governor of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands, Gustavo Melella within the framework of the event held at the Marambio Base commemorating 119 years of uninterrupted permanence of Argentina in Antarctic territory, which was headed by the President of the Nation, Alberto Fernandez.

Governor Gustavo Melella, together with the Vice Governor Mónica Urquiza and the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Analía Cubino.

The date remembers February 22, 1904, when the Argentine flag was taken over and raised at the Meteorological Observatory on Laurie Island, South Orkney, later called Orkney Base.
