The Argentine Navy and US ships will carry out the combined exercise “Gringo-Gaucho II”

On Sunday, the destroyers ARA “La Argentina” and ARA “Sarandí” and the corvettes ARA “Espora” and ARA “Rosales” set sail from the Puerto Belgrano Naval Base for the training exercise.

On May 30 and 31, personnel from the Argentine armed forces will join the activities aboard the aircraft carrier USS “George Washington” , which is escorted in national waters by the Destroyer USS “Porter” and the Logistics Ship USNS “John Lenthall”. ”.

The so-called “Gringo-Gaucho II” exercise is proposed as a naval training where tactical communications are carried out; air transfers of personnel between units; maneuvers and tactical evolutions in navigation ; fixed-wing aircraft launch; helicopter aircraft on deck; anti-aircraft and anti-submarine defense ; and visits, registration and capture practices among participants.

In the activity , defense maneuvers will be carried out between the forces of the two countries in Argentine waters , with anti-surface, anti-aircraft and anti-submarine strategies.

Frigate Captain Patricio Alisi and Lieutenant Commander Lucas David Murgia are already aboard the aircraft carrier USS “George Washington” advancing in the planning of the joint actions of the coming days, which are part of the international deployment “Southern Seas”. 2024”, from the North American Southern Command .

Several vessels will be part of the Argentine Navy: the Destroyers ARA “La Argentina” and ARA “Sarandí”; the ARA “Espora” and ARA “Rosales” corvettes; the Oceanic Patrol Vessels ARA “Contraalmirante Cordero”, ARA “Piedrabuena” and ARA “Storni”. Similar activities were previously carried out with French navy ships and now it is the turn of the exercises with the US forces, and meetings of this type with the United States have also been carried out during 1990, 1991; 1993; 2004; 2008 and 2010.

From the Ministry of Defense of the Nation they reported that “the objective of the “Gringo-Gaucho” is to increase the level of training and interoperability between both Navies.”
