China denied illegal fishing in the South Atlantic

In response to accusations of illegal fishing in the South Atlantic made by the United States.

Uruguay claims to have not detected Chinese fishing activities in disagreement with the country's laws.

The Chinese embassy in Montevideo issued an official statement in which it defends itself against criticism and underlines its commitment to strengthening economic and commercial ties, including measures against illegal fishing.

The US report that accused China of illegal fishing practices in the South Atlantic alleged that China's catches increased exponentially, from 10.6 billion tons in 1998 to 254.8 billion in 2020 .
