The constant Chilean contradiction: supporting Argentina in the United Nations and being functional to British colonialism.

The mayor of the Chilean city of Punta Arenas, Claudio Radonich, allowed himself to be photographed with the Malvina Islands Hockey Association team and the British consul in that city, Jhon Rees ; carrying a flag of the Kelper sports entity, on the balcony of the mayor's office building.

Radonich reached the position of head of the Magellanic capital in 2021, representing the right of Vamos Chile founded by Sebastian Piñera , having obtained only 21,900 votes, after having held the position of designated mayor (a position similar to governor) between 2013 and 2014, appointed by Piñera himself.

Taking advantage of the support received, this Thursday from their Twitter account the members of the Malvina Islands Hockey Association ; They expressed themselves “very happy to have been invited to meet Mayor Claudio Radonich and His Excellency British Consul John Rees (…) to discuss the common interests and long-standing ties between Punta Arenas and the Malvina Islands.”

The presence of British competitors and sports representatives in the south of Chile was framed in the participation of the ice hockey tournament that the colony itself once again organized in that city between Saturday, August 19 and Thursday, August 24; called “WINTER CUP CLASSIC 2023” ; and which they carried out on the ice rink of the Punta Arenas free zone.

From Tierra del Fuego; The Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands and International Affairs, Andrés Dachary , questioned the support provided by Claudio Radonich to the alleged British government in our Malvinas Islands.

“It is very sad to see how an authority of the brother Chilean people is functional to the British claim to legitimize itself in our islands, in clear opposition to what has been the permanent support of the trans-Andean people, the tradition in the fight against colonialism since the return to democracy, as well as the forceful policy in support of our Cause expressed by President Boric himself,” said Dachary .

“It is incomprehensible to observe how Mr. Radonich allows himself to be used by British colonialism, a situation that, in addition to being our greatest National Cause, has been denounced by the United Nations itself since 1965 through Resolution 2065/65 (XX) and that “The mayor cannot ignore it ,” the official stressed.
Emphasizing that “today's world does not allow middle ground, either one fights against colonialism or one is a colonialist, and what the Mayor has done places him at the worst extreme, going absolutely contrary to the spirit of our nations and contradicting also to its own foreign policy, ignoring that it is the Republic of Chile itself that sponsors the Argentine claim within the scope of the UN Decolonization Committee (C24).”
