The British aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth set sail yesterday from the Malvinas to an uncertain destination

This is the most significant military presence since the war of 1982. Neither the Argentine Foreign Ministry nor the government of Tierra del Fuego have made any statements regarding this alarming fact. The ship arrived in Puerto Argentino on Thursday 7th and accompanied the visit of the British Minister of Defence, Luke Pollard.

The presence of the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth is a unique event in the recent history of the Malvinas.

The aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, which had arrived in Puerto Argentino last Thursday, raised anchor from the Malvinas yesterday after 1:00 p.m. and headed east, with an uncertain destination.

This was observed during the afternoon and evening of Monday 11th, through the satellite information and tracking application www.marinetraffic.com

The presence of the aircraft carrier, 280 metres long, 70 metres wide and with a displacement of 65,000 tonnes, is a unique event in the recent history of the Malvinas. Above all, because it is the main British ship to arrive at the usurped Argentine islands after the 1982 war.

In that war, Great Britain deployed the aircraft carriers HMS Invicible and HMS Hermes . The first of these was successfully attacked on May 30 by a squadron of fighter-bombers from the Argentine Air Force, which meant that the ship, seriously damaged, withdrew from the combat zone.

In this case, the HMS Queen Elizabeth has on board some 1,200 crew members and some 40 aircraft. Among them, 36 F-35s, unmanned aircraft and Merlin helicopters. And its last information provided through its account on the social network X, was last Friday, giving an account of the loading practices that its helicopters were doing on deck.

Aviation training continues.
