It is the first of its kind to open the 2024/2025 Antarctic summer season, arriving via the South-West Atlantic; after 3 weeks of sailing from the port of Harwich - in the United Kingdom -, making stops at the Portuguese island of Madeira, in Recife in Brazil, Montevideo - Uruguay -, and finally, the Malvina Islands. To arrive this Tuesday at the port of Rothera, the research base of the British Antarctic Survey.
This is how it can be located through the MarineTrafic navigation tracking platform:
There, it operates on the new 74-metre dock inaugurated in 2021, which allows it to dock safely and efficiently with a new crane to launch small scientific vessels, a walkway for staff and a floating pontoon to deploy scientific instruments.
