Chilean and US Special Forces are carrying out exercises on the borders of southern Argentina

There are 1,200 troops who are testing their capabilities in cold weather. The exercises began yesterday and will continue until next Friday. They are carried out in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region, very close to the limits of the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands.

1,200 troops from the Special Operations Forces of the Chilean Army and the United States Southern Special Operations Command ( Socsouth) were scheduled to begin this Monday, June 24, and until next Friday, the 28th, in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region ; a combined exercise called Pacific Dagger 2024 , which will test their capabilities to operate in cold weather scenarios.

Previously, in the second week of April of this year, the main planning conference for Pacific Dagger 2024 was held, in which the details of this training of special operations personnel from Chile and the United States were finalized in a cycle of meetings of job.

For the host institution of the trans-Andean army, this activity is an example that exists between the Armed Forces of Chile and the United States , and demonstrates the capacity of both countries to work together in special operations in challenging environments; indicates InfoDefensa .

The command post of the Combined Joint Task Force (CJSOTF) of the aforementioned exercise is located in the Lautaro Special Operations Brigade , in the Commune of Colina, in Santiago.

"The United States Armed Forces and its Special Forces are always at a very high level of updating and operability and that allows us, through this exchange of experiences and combined work, to update our units on the most recent in terms of procedures, technologies and use of special operations forces," he noted.
