To strengthen its argument in favor of the UK's position, the automated platform resorts to the argument of self-determination.

Elon Musk's new AI- powered knowledge platform, Grokipedia , has taken a clear and controversial stance on the sovereignty of the Malvina Islands . The magnate, known for his ideological affinity with President Javier Milei, presented his digital encyclopedia project on Monday, developed by his startup xAI, with the ambitious goal of surpassing Wikipedia, which he accuses of being infected by a "left-wing ideological bias" or the " woke virus," promising in return to spread "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth."

However, Grokipedia 's stated objective of "neutrality" was immediately compromised on sensitive issues such as Argentina's territorial claim. The IA encyclopedia article, when referring to the archipelago, unequivocally identifies it as the "Malvina Islands" and defines it as a "self-governing British Overseas Territory" located in the South Atlantic, noting that it has remained under uninterrupted British administrative control since 1833.

Musk's platform's narrative downplays and contextualizes the 1982 conflict, referring to this event as a 74-day "Argentine occupation" that triggered the Malvinas War.

Even more forceful is Grokipedia's dismissal of Argentina's sovereignty claim . The text states that the territorial dispute is "contested by Argentina," but reduces its historical argument to a "supposed legacy of Spanish colonial rights," and immediately contrasts this with the fact that the islands were uninhabited at the time of European contact and have had "continuous British settlement ever since."

To bolster its argument in favor of the UK's position, the automated platform uses the argument of self-determination . It highlights the result of the 2013 referendum, in which 99.8% of participants, with a high turnout of 92%, expressed their desire to remain a territory associated with the United Kingdom.

This positioning of the brand-new digital encyclopedia, designed to be a "complete and open-source collection of all knowledge," far from settling debates, opens a new war over the narrative and interpretation of history in the digital ecosystem, marked by the ideological vision of X's owner . Grokipedia , driven by the Grok language model, poses not only a technological but also an editorial and political challenge to Wikipedia's collaborative and community model, promising to be a "massive improvement" in the understanding of the universe, even if that means eroding historical diplomatic sensitivities.
