Governor Melella's lack of decisiveness and energy at this critical point is a clear act of defection from sovereignty.

The airline This Saturday, LATAM completed its second flight with a stopover in Ushuaia, confirming its open obedience to the impositions of the British colony and its refusal to recognize the airport's official name: "Malvinas Argentinas . " The flight, which departed three hours late, took place without any change in the company's position, demonstrating that the will of the colonists prevails in sovereign Argentine territory, specifically in the legitimate capital of the Malvinas Islands.

The aircraft's second arrival and takeoff reflected a shameful situation: the complete defection of the government of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica, and the South Atlantic Islands in the defense of their principal emblem of sovereignty.

Fallen Ultimatum: The Paralysis of Melella

Governor Gustavo Melella was trapped in his own rhetoric . Despite issuing an ultimatum to LATAM—threatening to revoke its operating authorization—and formalizing a letter of complaint, no concrete action was taken. The provincial executive branch's inaction exposes a clear lack of capacity and political will to enforce a decision within its jurisdiction.

The silence of the Melella government, combined with that of the National Government, cannot be interpreted in any other way than as an act of submission to the same imperial power that historically decided to occupy the islands by force.

The "aeronautical confusion" excuse used by LATAM to omit the name—a justification that equates Ushuaia Airport with Rosario Airport to evade the political issue—has been validated in practice by state inaction. The Tierra del Fuego government, by failing to act on its threats, has turned symbolic sovereignty into a dead letter .

The colonial victory on Argentine soil

The implementation of this second flight, without the Argentine government or the province being able to force the airline to respect the official name, represents a victory for British colonial pressure that extends beyond the usurped jurisdiction. The company, in an unprecedented act of contempt, not only complied with the British demand but also engaged in blatant fare discrimination against Argentine passengers, charging more for the shorter leg from Ushuaia than for the entire flight from Punta Arenas.

The Melella government had the power and the duty to defend what falls within its territory. Its lack of decisiveness and energy at this critical point is a clear act of desertion of sovereignty , a setback that humiliates the memory of the fallen and the constitutional mandate of the Argentine Nation. Sovereignty is defended with actions; inaction, in this context, is a regrettable act of surrender.
