In a post on the X network, the mayor of the Tierra del Fuego city of Río Grande, Martín Pérez , thanked the member states of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) for their support, which for the second consecutive year and even without the presence of Argentine President Javier Milei , support the defense of the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands as a continental cause.
In solitude, given that no statements were heard from the Tierra del Fuego government either, Pérez praised the gesture of Uruguay's new president, Yamandú Orsi, "for raising his voice in defense of the Malvinas Cause." "Regional integration is a basic necessity for a Malvinas-ization process and a strategic pillar for the recovery of our islands," he emphasized.
Malvinas is a national and Latin American cause.
We appreciate the support of the region's sister countries at the CELAC Summit.
I want to send a special hug to comrade @OrsiYamandu for raising his voice in defense of the Malvinas Cause.

As will be recalled, in March 2024, CELAC , also in the complete absence of Milei as the representative of the Argentine government, had unanimously issued a joint statement in which they reiterated their "strongest support for the legitimate rights" of Argentina in the dispute with the United Kingdom over the sovereignty of the Malvina Islands.
