While the political leadership of Tierra del Fuego has shifted from complaints to a silence that reveals their level of complicity, the workers of the Provincial Port Authority (DPP) in Ushuaia have decided to break their silence. Through an open letter addressed to the entire Tierra del Fuego community, especially maritime agencies and the tourism sector, the port workers issued a definitive ultimatum: if Javier Milei's national intervention persists, they will not allow the 2026/2027 cruise season to take place .

The union and human document of the workers not only names the plundering of the dock, but also exposes the greatest of paradoxes: the permanent staff defend the sovereignty of the Fuegian heritage with more dignity than Governor Gustavo Melella himself and the president of the organization, Roberto Murcia .
The Ultimatum: "If there is no peace for the families, there will be no peace for the intervention"
The dockworkers recalled that, despite facing absolute uncertainty, they acted with a strong sense of responsibility, guaranteeing the smooth running of the 2025/2026 season to avoid disrupting one of Ushuaia's main economic activities. However, judging by the letter's tone, the truce has ended.
Aware that the silence of the provincial government and legislature constitutes tacit consent, the workers warned that operational guarantees for the 2026/2027 period no longer exist. Their closing statement is directed squarely at the tourism sector: “If there is no peace for the workers and their families, there will be no peace for the intervention either. And the Port of Ushuaia, as we know it, will cease to be a guarantee of operation.”
The Port "Cast" and Senator Coto
The workers' open letter exposes the political and bureaucratic anonymity of the ANPyN intervention. They openly denounce that behind the takeover of the port is Senator Agustín Coto (La Libertad Avanza) from Tierra del Fuego, through the appointment of Fernando Ariel Polizzi to the intervention structure.

They also name the perpetrators of the asset stripping, pointing to the "old mafia caste of the General Ports Administration (AGP)" comprised of figures such as Cristian Riguiero ("The Black Monk") , Carlos Sposaro, Diego Salom , and the union leader Leonardo Salom ; individuals whose backgrounds within the national port system are publicly questioned. While they operate the dock, Tierra del Fuego's legitimate funds are diverted to an account at Banco Nación, jeopardizing the salaries of more than 140 families in Tierra del Fuego.
The disappearance of the reasons for the Intervention
The legislature's decision to repeal paragraph 3 of Article 12 of Law 1596 (the regulation with which Melella intended to seize the port's surplus to finance OSEF) dismantles the reason for the intervention. With the repeal of this law, which was never implemented, the national agency's presence is left without the legal argument it had to justify its intervention: the alleged misappropriation of funds. And although Milei's legal excuse has been dead for 20 days, the intervention remains in place.
The Open Letter from the DPP workers is the antithesis of the lies exposed by the State Prosecutor regarding the irresponsibility of the agency's president in the lead-up to the intervention, in the face of parliamentary blocs and the silence of the Government House offices. While the people's representatives silently watch as Tierra del Fuego's tax revenue slips away to Buenos Aires, the workers are taking a firm stand: "The Port of Ushuaia belongs to the Province of Tierra del Fuego and must be administered by the province itself."
With each passing day, it becomes clearer that the port's crisis isn't due to rotten pilings or a lack of ships; it's being held hostage by a political betrayal orchestrated behind closed doors. If the Tierra del Fuego authorities fail to find a solution to the national intervention in the coming months, the workers have already warned that the next cruise season will be decided on the docks and at the port entrance, not in the offices of those who handed over control of the province's maritime affairs.
