From northern Chile to the waters of the Pacific , the Chilean Army conducted Exercise Estrella Austral 2025. This year, more than 2,700 troops from various countries , including Chile, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, and Paraguay, participated.
The activity, organized by the Chilean Joint Chiefs of Staff with support from the U.S. Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH), ran until June 8 , and beyond the official rationale, in practice strengthens the combat capability of foreign armed forces in a geopolitical context that threatens regional sovereignty.
The exercise included urban operations, amphibious navigation, and air and sea control , in an environment simulating international conflict scenarios.
They operated in an area of 3,700 kilometers , from Tarapacá to Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica , combining land, naval and air resources: 67 land vehicles, 42 aircraft and 4 naval units, fulfilling the 28 planned objectives .
There were 37 tactical actions : 20 Direct Actions, 15 Special Reconnaissance, and 2 Non-Combatant Evacuation. A total of 193 air operations were executed, 99 with national means and 94 with US aircraft . Of note were 14 paratroop drops, 9 infiltration missions , and 2 medical evacuations.
This is an activity that threatens the boundaries between cooperation and militarization in a territory of geostrategic interest to world powers, and especially to Anglo-Saxon colonialism.
The Army Special Operations Command (COPE) asserts that "Estrella Austral 2025" sought to improve cooperation in controlling cross-border threats , but did it truly contribute to regional security or merely consolidate a foreign military presence in Latin American territory?
The truth is that this type of exercise especially benefits American interests in its confrontation with other powers such as Russia and China , for control and resources of the South Atlantic.
It is worth noting that even the US military has in recent years confessed its ambitions for power in the region.
This was made clear specifically in the words of the head of the United States Southern Command, General Laura Richardson, in 2023 , who acknowledged in a press interview the world power's intention to extract rare earths and other natural resources, and control maritime access in the far south.
The creation of an Integrated Naval Base , also known as the Antarctic Logistics Pole in Ushuaia , capital of the province of Tierra del Fuego , with planning and “collaboration” with foreign forces, is a good example.
The project was announced, denied, and then confirmed by the American and Argentine military authorities, and only confirms the explicit American ambitions regarding Antarctica, the fishing and oil resources in the area , and the conflict with its economic and military adversaries.
At the same time, we must always remember that we are talking about Great Britain's main geopolitical and military ally in history, and specifically in the illegitimate usurpation of Argentine maritime and island territories of sovereignty , including the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands.
The United States is the nation that helped English pirates during the 1982 war , which participates in the largest NATO military base in South America , located in the Malvina Islands and which periodically carries out military exercises in the area alongside the British colonialists , with an American nuclear submarine even participating in 2021.
The latest information, although neither confirmed nor denied by authorities in either country, suggests that the world power intends for the Integrated Naval Base to be built in Ushuaia to serve as a space for the supply and operation of its nuclear submarines.
In its political, commercial and military war against Russia and China, the US has already begun a declared and open advance on the countries of South America, particularly Argentina due to the submission of President Javier Milei .
It is clear that the US government will use all its weapons to drag every nation into its conflict.
