The Tierra del Fuego government called Jorge Taiana lukewarm, a liar, incompetent and cowardly

In response to the former minister's accusations that the Melella administration is responsible for the existence of the British LeoLabs radar in Tierra del Fuego, he also praised Milei for the purchase of the F-16s.

The Tierra del Fuego government responded to Taiana, through the Secretary of Malvinas, Andrés Dachary.

After Agenda Malvinas reproduced the public statements of Jorge Taiana , former Minister of Defense of the government of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner ; the provincial administration of Gustavo Melella came out with "pointed caps" against the former official, who is currently visiting Tierra del Fuego.

The spokesman for the bad mood of the Tierra del Fuego government was the Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica, South Atlantic Islands and International Affairs, Andrés Dachary ; who, regarding the publication made by this medium on the X network (extwitter), issued a lengthy response where he accuses Taiana of having made “statements (…) not only malicious but a complete lie and of a shamelessness that calls into question the motivations that lead him to make them, especially having been the person most responsible for its continuity in Tierra del Fuego territory.”

The statements of Mr. Taiana (former defense minister of Alberto Fernández) in relation to the LEOLABS Radar are not only malicious but a complete lie and so shameless that they call into question the motivations that lead him to make them, especially having been the highest… https://t.co/MrLhlylFjC

He also accuses Taiana of having had “on his desk the report of the then Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JEMCO), General Paleo, in which he informed him with extreme urgency regarding the THREAT to NATIONAL SECURITY that the Radar represented”, but that he only reacted when Paleo published on July 9, 2023, “a note” in Infobae “making” a “call for attention”.

"If you are going to point the finger of blame, remember that the authorization for said Radar to operate in national territory was given by the Chief of Cabinet of Ministers of the government that you were part of in November 2022," Dachary reproached him.

In his thread on X , the Tierra del Fuego government official says in his favor, although erroneously; that “the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications and Connectivity, dependent on the Office of the Chief of Ministers of the Nation”, cancelled “ the provisional authorization granted to Leolabs” at the request of the Melella administration and due to threats to go and report Taiana “to the Justice”. The issue is that, in the face of all the official reports that Agenda Malvinas has, the sequence of events based on the existing documentation, neither Dachary nor Melella can demonstrate the veracity of these expressions.

In passing, the governor of Tierra del Fuego enabled his Secretary of Malvinas to reveal old disputes that were not settled in time, even though at that time they not only belonged to the same political entity, the "Frente de Todos", but they also shared an electoral ticket in what was called "Unión por La Patria".

“As usual, and with the lukewarmness and ineffectiveness that characterized his administration, he did nothing. He only limited himself to `kicking the ball` out and, now, to disclaiming his responsibility by accusing a provincial government of not complying with actions that correspond and are framed within the exclusively national competences: security and defense” ; Dachary reproached Taiana . And in passing he said: “You cowardly failed to comply with this mandate and worse still, you wanted to hide your ineffectiveness by blaming the province of Tierra del Fuego.”

The inspiration of the political response of the Tierra del Fuego government to the former minister of Alberto and Cristina, also exposed the deep differences that there were and still are, between the project that Gustavo Melella has and the one left by Jorge Taiana , in relation to the development of the Integrated Naval Base in Ushuaia, as an operational and logistic center of the Antarctic projection. Taiana went from defending a joint project, to one exclusively of a military nature, led from the national orbit. Meanwhile Gustavo Melella , with a federal sense and reinforcing the legitimate territorial power, demanded without response; the necessary participation of the Province and especially of the city of Ushuaia.

Late, with a delay of 3 years; Dachary now accuses Taiana of having come to Ushuaia in 2022, to “ put on a show to inaugurate a stone” , where the former minister and the Navy imagined the construction of the Integrated Naval Base , on the north coast of the Ushuaia peninsula. In an act that Governor Melella himself, Vice Governor Mónica Urquiza, and Chief of Staff Agustín Tita participated in and applauded.

In the same tone of reply, the catharsis of the Tierra del Fuego government escaped the discussion about the LeoLabs radar , and strangely "throws a corner" to the government of Javier Milei , whom it praises for the purchase of the F-16 fighter-bombers; with Luis Petri at the head of the Ministry .

Dachary reproached him for having promised “to acquire aircraft for our meager FAA, but that he also did nothing more than the already known missions abroad to study possible aircraft to acquire. Note that with all the differences we may have with the current administration, it demonstrated a true political will on this issue and how, in 3 months, it achieved the acquisition of the F-16 Weapons System,” the official reasons, about the extensive negotiations that Jorge Taiana opened and without results; with Russia, then with China and India, and finally with the US, in the search for new fighter-bombers for Argentina.

“It seems that his “bravery” was exhausted by using it against his own people and not when he really should have used it to defend the interests of the Nation when he had the opportunity and the obligation to do so,” concluded the Secretary of Malvinas of Tierra del Fuego, without there being in any paragraph of what was expressed any hint of self-criticism about the shared responsibilities between the Nation and the Province, regarding a radar of British and Irish capital installed within the jurisdiction of Tolhuin, which the current national government, like its predecessor; also maintains.
