Argentine magnate plans to create a bunker for millionaires in case of nuclear war

Argentine technology entrepreneur Martín Varsavsky proposed a plan to Javier Milei and Luis Caputo to attract foreign millionaires in the event of a Third World War. The project, called the "Tranquility Visa," is based in Mendoza.

We've often heard that "Argentines are ingenious." This idea is often related to the fact that when a group of scientists announces a successful discovery or promotes actions beneficial to humanity, there is almost always an Argentinean within those groups who is part of the charitable endeavor or who played a prominent role in achieving the desired goals.

But that's not always the case. For some time now, a businessman has been promoting the idea that Argentina can be considered a refuge from armed conflicts in the northern hemisphere. That's why Martín Varsavsky , an Argentine technology entrepreneur, suggested this idea to President Javier Milei and his Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo , during a meeting held in the United States in 2024.

It's hard to understand what drives someone to seek to satisfy their desire for profit by waiting for humanity to experience a true catastrophe, such as the possibility of a new world war, and a nuclear one at that. But, believe it or not, this is how Varsavsky suggested offering an Argentine alternative that "would not only alleviate fears of a possible Third World War, but could also generate significant economic revenue for the South American country," as Infobae noted earlier this year.

At the time, from Agenda Malvinas , we reported that the lawyer of the CECIM of La Plata, Jerónimo Guerrero Iraola , had reported that days after Javier Milei signed the decree with which his government intended to repeal the Land Law, a magnate "acquired large extensions of land south of Mendoza in order to build a fortress to stay alive in the face of the imminent possibility of a nuclear attack."

Varsavsky has realized part of this vision in the Wamani project, a 32,000-hectare site he acquired in Mendoza, in the department of San Carlos. Located at 3,100 meters above sea level and 150 kilometers from the nearest city, San Rafael, Varsavsky envisions the site as a sanctuary from potential apocalyptic scenarios. In this Andean setting, located 75 kilometers from the small town of Pareditas, Varsavsky spends his time exploring the mountains while developing his idea for the "bunker at the end of the world." Although Milei and Caputo have not visited Wamani , the entrepreneur shared with them the rationale behind his initiative and the importance of taking advantage of Argentina's geopolitical position to exploit it as a refuge.

Varsavsky founded the Wamani project with Alec Oxenford , co-founder of OLX and Argentina's new ambassador to the US; Mike Santos , who sold Technisys for $1.1 billion; Matías Nissensohn , an Argentine entrepreneur; David Kamenetzky , a German-American entrepreneur; and Dan Lubetzky , creator of Kind, a healthy food bar company.

How similar are the allegations made by attorney Guerrero Iraola , who claimed at the time that a businessman had purchased 2,400 square kilometers to develop a sort of "fortress town" for himself and four other families in Malargüe. All this was done to secure food, water, and nuclear security with the land.

Apparently, Milei and Caputo were interested in the project: "At first, they found it strange, in the sense that thinking that one of Argentina's competitive advantages was surviving the Third Nuclear World War wasn't exactly what they had in mind. But when I explained it to them in more detail during the trip—because Milei and I did two tours of Silicon Valley—they realized that the world is indeed already divided into two blocs: democracies versus dictatorships: Europe-United States versus Russia, China, North Korea, Iran. Europe-United States-Israel, even though there are differences," the businessman told Infobae.

Apparently, Milei and Caputo are not content with destroying Argentina in order to obtain more dollars; in their eagerness to obtain them, they even yearn for the destruction of planet Earth.
