The Argentine Foreign Ministry published a statement that contradicts what Foreign Minister Diana Mondino herself said hours before.
Mondino had published on the social network X that recognized Edmundo González as the new president of Venezuela. The publication was even shared by president Javier Milei.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately corrected the Chancellor, ensuring in an official statement that “The Argentine Republic was one of the first countries to reject and ignore the result of the Venezuelan presidential election on July 28. The evidence collected so far has only confirmed this position. "The Argentine Republic follows the events in Venezuela with extreme attention and concern in order to make a definitive statement."

Earlier, the national government had come out to recognize the opposition González as the new president of Venezuela . Milei broadcast on X a message from Mondino that recognized González based on the unofficial figures of the election results released by the Venezuelan opposition. "After several days of the official electoral records of Venezuela being published at: http://resultadosconvzla.com We can all confirm, without a doubt, that the legitimate winner and President-elect is Edmundo González," Mondino had stated.
