In the framework of the VI Tandil Air Brigade , the Argentine Air Force (FAA) presented to authorities of the Ministry of Defense the first of the F-16 fighters acquired from Denmark. The aircraft, brought to the country through two K/C-130H aircraft of the Institution, was presented to the head of the National Defense Portfolio, Luis Petri , and to military authorities headed by the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Xavier Isaac.
As reported, the FAA has been preparing for the start of the transfer of the first F-16 acquired to Denmark in recent weeks. This two-seater model, an F-16B Block 10, is officially designated as number 25 and It is intended for ground training for the formation of new pilots and crews at the new Training Center that is being built at the VI Brigade.
This F-16, which is not in flight condition, was displayed still disassembled in Hangar No. 3 of the VI Air Brigade, along with other elements such as the engine and the wing assembly.
Through an official statement, the Ministry of Defense detailed part of the tasks that will be part of the training process of the Air Force personnel to incorporate the new weapons system. In detail, they indicated that they include: “…scheduled inspections, work cards, configuration of weapons and launch systems, management of the new logistics software, engine change, removal of the dome and ejection seats, inspection and regulation of the fuel and hydraulic system, as well as familiarization with the electrical and avionics system, among others, thus introducing the personnel to a new work culture and philosophy.”
In addition, regarding some additional details of the F-16B Block 10, it was specified that the aircraft “… underwent the inspection, reconditioning and painting process in the workshops of the Defense Maintenance Service (FVT) at the Aalborg air base.”
Finally, as noted, the next steps are expected to include the assembly of the aircraft with the assistance of Danish Air Force personnel, for what will be its official presentation in the coming weeks.
