In anticipation of the match between the national teams of Argentina and England, to be played on July 15, 2026, in New Jersey, we feel a moral and institutional obligation to address the Argentine people. We do so not out of the fleeting passion of a sporting event, but out of a higher responsibility: to safeguard historical memory, defend national identity, and preserve those values that constitute the soul of our Republic.

We observe with concern that, from various political, media, and cultural spheres, there are attempts to persuade Argentinians that remembering the Malvinas War, honoring our heroes, or proclaiming national sovereignty during a sporting event is an inappropriate or improper act. We reject this premise. No dignified society builds its future by renouncing its memory.

We Argentinians are not a crowd gathered solely by a jersey. We are the product of a history, an education, a culture, and the sacrifice of generations who built this nation with work, blood, and hope. National identity is not suspended for ninety minutes; it lives in every symbol, every memory, and every legitimate expression of love for our country.

We know that new forms of domination are no longer always exercised through weapons. There are more silent and effective mechanisms that seek to weaken collective consciousness, relativize history, and empty our symbols of meaning. This soft power aims to convince people that patriotism is excessive and that memory is an obstacle to coexistence. We assert precisely the opposite: a people without memory ends up accepting as natural what yesterday they would have considered a renunciation.

Throughout history, sport has also served as a stage for political and cultural expression. To deny this would be to ignore the experience of nations. Therefore, peacefully declaring that the Malvina Islands are Argentine, remembering San Martín, Belgrano, Güemes, Juana Azurduy, and our Malvinas heroes, does not represent an act of hostility toward any people; it constitutes an act of sovereign affirmation, fully compatible with respect among nations.

If the Malvinas cause continues to occupy an unrenounceable place in the national conscience, in our Constitution and in Argentine foreign policy, it is because thousands of compatriots resisted de-Malvinization , faced the silence and upheld with dignity a truth that no interest could erase.

Therefore, we call upon all Argentinians to cheer with pride, respect, and conviction. The result of the match will be a matter of statistics; loyalty to the nation belongs to history.

Let the world hear, once again, the serene voice of a people who will never renounce their sovereignty nor the memory of those who gave everything for it.
