Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero conveyed to his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares Bueno , “the importance for the Argentine Government of discouraging any initiative aimed at facilitating the continuity of illegal fishing in the Malvinas Islands promoted by the illegitimate island authorities.” One paragraph , three lines, twenty-nine words, is all that the presidential tour of Spain reflects on the illegal, impudent, savage predation of our squid, which the Spanish fleet repeats every year in the waters of our Malvinas, thanks to the licenses granted to them. They buy from the illegitimate British occupation authorities. Just an occasion phrase in the face of the immeasurable losses that this illegal practice causes to our country, in economic and natural resources.

A handful of diplomatic words about the main source of income and foreign currency with which the occupants of our territory sustain their lavish standard of living. Right under our noses. Cafiero in Madrid with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Peninsular Cooperation, made progress on issues such as reciprocal trade and investments. SME relations and participation in the Internationalization Plan of the Spanish economy. They also spoke about inclusive and sustainable development , to reinforce multilateralism. On human rights, on caring for the environment, on Antarctic cooperation and on the challenges of the post-pandemic.Also on gender equality. They analyzed the execution of the “Action Plan for Deepening the Association Strategic (PAE)” 2021-2023.

Together they remembered that there are 300 Spanish companies in Argentina that generate more than 100 thousand direct jobs. They discussed multilateral challenges and mentioned the Argentine Pro Tempore presidency of Celac, and the United Nations Human Rights Council.
