This is in response to the cooperation agreement signed on 24 September between Foreign Minister Mondino and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

Following the controversial agreement between Argentina and the United Kingdom last September, relatives of Argentine soldiers killed in the 1982 Malvinas War are planning a trip to the islands in December.

The purpose of the visit is to honour the memory of the fallen and to offer a space for reflection for their loved ones.

The last visit by relatives of soldiers killed in the war took place in 2018, after the identification of soldiers' remains by the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The new visit is part of a cooperation agreement signed on September 24 between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, Diana Mondino , and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain, David Lammy , which includes the resumption of the weekly flight from Sao Paulo (Brazil) to the Malvinas and the return of scientific cooperation in fisheries matters.

The visit sparked criticism from some island sectors, who questioned the political motives behind the initiative.

The last organized visit for relatives of Argentine soldiers killed in the conflict occurred in 2018. On that occasion, more than 90 families traveled to the Malvinas after the International Committee of the Red Cross identified remains of soldiers who were previously labeled as "unnamed." This effort was made possible thanks to DNA samples provided by the families of 107 deceased soldiers, which allowed 122 graves to be analyzed.

The illegitimate colonial government of the islands has said it will work closely with all parties involved to ensure the visit is conducted in a respectful manner and without affecting the integrity of the local community. Although exact dates have not yet been confirmed, it is expected that the organization will follow careful protocols.
