The British Malvina Islands removed the plaques of the former Prince Andrew

The stain of the sex scandal has erased the "Hero" of the 1982 War from the islands. The British newspaper The Daily Mirror revealed this. Plaques were removed from several public buildings.

In 1982, at the age of 22, Andrés was a co-pilot of a Sea King helicopter, from the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible.

The controversy surrounding former Prince Andrew, Duke of York, has escalated to the Malvina Islands, territory seized by the United Kingdom in 1833 and the focus of the 1982 conflict . According to the British newspaper The Daily Mirror , the illegitimate authorities of the British colony established in the archipelago have decided to remove commemorative plaques bearing the name of the former member of the Royal Family. , many of which were related to their participation in the war.

This move represents a new and significant blow to the son of Queen Elizabeth II, who has already been stripped of his military titles and royal patronages due to his involvement in the scandal over his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and the civil lawsuit for sexual abuse he faced (resolved through an out-of-court settlement).

The Mirror of Scandals

The Daily Mirror reports that four plaques honoring the former Prince Andrew, some unveiled by him in public buildings across the islands, have been removed . The decision, revealed shortly after King Charles III stripped his brother of his remaining titles, is seen as a response to the deep disrepute caused by the scandals.

The outlet quotes island residents who believe that former Prince Andrew "brought shame to his family and the country he once represented," and therefore considers the removal of the plaques an act of justice . Among the affected sites are plaques at KEMH Hospital in Puerto Argentino and one at Mount Pleasant Airport , although reports suggest that the removal of some began earlier. The former duke's connection to the islands, which he himself considered his " last source of pride," appears to have been completely severed.

The "Little Prince" in the South Atlantic Conflict

The irony of the situation lies in the fact that, for the United Kingdom, the figure of Andrew was intrinsically linked to the 1982 conflict, where he was presented as a "hero of the Malvinas" .

In 1982, at the age of 22, Prince Andrew (then a Sub-Lieutenant) was a helicopter pilot in the Royal Navy . He served aboard the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible as a Sea King helicopter co-pilot.

Its role was transport, search and rescue , as well as reconnaissance and radar diversion for Argentina . Although British sources highlight its participation in "dangerous missions," the reality is that the "little prince" (as it was nicknamed in Argentina and some British circles) did not set foot on the islands until the Argentine surrender.

War Propaganda

His presence on the battlefield, as third in line to the throne at the time, was heavily exploited by the British press as a symbol of royal and national resolve, despite Queen Elizabeth II 's initial concerns about her son's safety. Upon his return, he was greeted and photographed as a victor, cementing his image as a war veteran.

Despite being stripped of his military titles and patronages, his brother King Charles III still allowed him to keep the South Atlantic Medal , which was awarded to those who served in the Malvinas War.

Even so, the removal of the plaques on the island territory marks the final collapse of the former Prince's public image, who sees how even his war legacy - a key episode in his life and in British history - is now tarnished and erased as a consequence of his personal scandals.
